Let me back up a few years.

In 2015, we were driving back home to Kansas City after a week in sunny Sahaurita, Arizona with my mom. Headed east on Interstate 10, we cut off onto New Mexico's 26 N and followed our noses to Sparky's in Hatch, NM - The Chile Capital of the World.

A "kitschy burger joint with vintage flair", the menu, coffee, and decor at Sparky's will have you coming back for more.

A pit-stop here is well worth it, no matter the time of day. We've been known to stop here just an hour after having eaten breakfast. To-go is an option.

5 reasons not to skip Sparky's in Hatch, NM:

World famous green chile cheeseburger. On your second visit, give the Oinker a whirl: Hatch green chile cheeseburger topped with a healthy helping of smoked pulled pork.
Great BBQ plates. Go for the People’s Choice (pulled pork, sliced Brisket, smoked sausage + center cut pork spare rib)
Refreshing hand-squeezed lemonades. I had the daily special: a super yummy Prickly Pear. Ask for the El Rojo (Guajillo chile + mango) if you're feeling adventurous.
Delicious milkshakes. They've got the usuals, plus the Green Chile Shake (made with fresh Hatch green chiles of course) and the Sassy Strawberry Shake (Guajillo + frozen strawberries).
Creative espresso drinks. Shoot for the Milky Way (caramel, chocolate, vanilla + espresso) or Melinda's Moon Beam Melinda’s Moon Beam (white chocolate + Espresso).
Live music on Saturday and Sunday afternoons. Aim for visiting some time between 12:30 - 3:30 pm. Check here for events.
Outdoor and indoor seating. Have it your way. And trust me, if you see a long line, it's worth it. They keep it moving.
