Great presents under the tree for adventurous friends

Under $25

MiiR pint cup

Moms and dads: we're telling everyone about these double vacuum insulate pint cups. My husband just ordered a slew of them as Christmas gifts.

The snug sippable lid can't be beat and the 18/8 medical grade stainless steel does not transfer flavor, so there's no metal aftertaste. The best part: MiiR pint cup keeps your beer cold and your coffee hot!

Check out MiiR's cool 12 oz. camp cup - an impressive shoutout to Grandpa's old standby and my morning joe take-along.  This fits well in a stocking hung by the fire!

Natural Life BOHO headbands

For all the girls, and long-haired hippy people everywhere. My girls and I picked up a few of these this summer to share. Great for camping and traveling and days you simply don't feel like washing or styling your hair.  Functional and versatile, use it as a neck buff on a ski trip or cold weather day.  Natural Life Boho headbands also come in half sizes.

Rick Steves Europe Through the Back Door

The travel skills handbook

Someone gifted this to me when I graduated college and I've loved Rick Steve's no-nonsense, fun travel advice ever sense. If you or someone you love is dreaming of travel to Europe, you must grab one of these (or any of his country specific books). Makes a perfect gift for anyone smitten with the wanderlust.

Fodor's complete guide to the national parks of the west

For those with itchy feet looking for great American road trips or national park escapades, especially in the western half of the United States, this is also a great stocking stuffer. Ours is tattered and torn, loaded with outdoor adventures still on our bucket list.

Bogo hanging toiletry bag

I love the way this Bogo hanging toiletry bag is set up, and you can choose between seven different colors.  This large and boxy bag can double as an electronics tote, lunch box, or small baby bag.  Great for guys or gals.

Road Atlas

Let's face it, our smart phones GPS apps won't work everywhere. We learned the hard way driving across Wyoming on our way to Yellowstone National Park. Wise travelers and road trippers keep a large scale Road Atlas in the car at all times.  Plus, it's fun to go old-school and turn the devices off from time to time!

Kids Ultimate Road Trip Atlas

Entertain kids for hours with this inexpensive Kids Ultimate Road Trip Atlas by National Geographic.  So affordable, buy one for every kid.

Travel Money Belt

Especially if you're traveling overseas or in big cities, a travel money belt that can be wore hidden underneath clothing provides a piece of mind.  Another great stocking stuffer.

Under $50

Cabeau Evolution Travel pillow

Accidentally leaving my old travel pillow behind on a plane, I picked up this beauty on a whim. Undeniably the best with all-around support. Designed with raised side supports, flat rear neck cushion, and a super soft, washable cover, the Cabeau Evolution Travel Pillow helped me conquer jet lag on our recent trip to Spain. Calling it like it is: a dreamy gift for friends and family who love to skip town.

Osprey Daylite Plus backpack

This comfortable, light-weight day pack is perfect as a personal carry-on, for day hikes, college campus jaunts, sports events, beach excursions, trips to farmers markets & more.

Easy to access main compartment, mesh side pockets, interior sleeve for a laptop or water reservoir, and Shove-It pocket for stashing a rain jacket. This pack also attaches to a variety of larger Osprey packs. A perfect, affordable gift.

Hydro Flask

Obvi, this Hydro Flask has been around the block, judging by the dings and dirt.

A great option for tweens and teens especially for biking, hiking, sports, school, you name it. If your kids lose it, just tell them the next one's on them.

Load it with ice water and you will find ice floating around hours later. Also, great for hot drinks too. Options galore, from colors, sizes, mouth pieces, and more.  Pricey? There might be a bit of initial sticker shock, but you'll get over it as soon as you realize these babies are as durable as all get out.

Life Straw Universal water filter bottle adapter kit

For the truly adventurous, #OptOutside crew, I've heard nothing but great things about this gadget.  Also on my holiday wish list and saved in my cart.

This 2-stage filter kit with two different sized caps turns most water bottles (think Nalgene, CamelBak, Hydroflask and more) into water filters. Removes 99.999% of parasites and bacteria up to 1,000 gallons! Also, a replaceable activated carbon capsule removes chemicals, chlorine, and improves taste up to 25 gallons.

Check out it's little sister, the personal Life Straw, just right to throw in the backpack for kids and adults. A fabulous stocking stuffer.

Snorkel gear

A great gift that comes in adult and kid sizes, we love these U.S. Divers snorkel sets. It's nice to own your own.

We bought six sets before heading to the Florida Keys a few spring breaks back. These fins, snorkels, and masks have been donned many times since.  Kid size here.

Eddie Bauer Sherpa Throw

Deliciously soft and cuddly, my teenage daughter and I both have this throw on our wish list for Santa.

Looking for a lightweight down throw you can pack down tight into your backpack?  Check out this one.

Under $100

Samsonite Omni PC Hardside 20-Inch Spinner

Carry-ons are our favorite way to travel. And they make a great gift for all ages.  We'd rather pack six carry-ons in our swagger van over giant, heavy suitcases any day.

The hubs and I recently traveled to Spain for 10 days and we each fit everything we needed in a carry-on and a day backpack each.  Love this carry-on by Samsonite.

Marmot Precip Rain Jacket

Our family owns several of these.  A reliable rain jacket and wind stopper.  I've owned mine for five years and still looks good as new after several wearings and escapades.

Lightweight, quick-drying, and machine washable. Love the colors Marmot offers for this Precip Jacket here, especially this one in Alpine Green.

The sky's the limit

Canon EOS Rebel T6 DSLR Camera

Canon DSLRs have always been my favorite when I really want to snap fantastic, frame-worthy pictures on family vacation.  I recommend adding the Canon EF 50 mm lens (fixed focal length) as a second lens option; it's a great lens for portrait shots, action, and night time photos.

Video footage more your style? We've had fun with the Go-Pro Hero.  Check it out here.
